Assembly and Release of HIV-1 and Other RetrovirusesPosted by: National Institutes of Health (NIH)Posted date: 2013-Mar-07
Location: USA
A postdoctoral position is currently available in a research program focused on a variety of key aspects of HIV-1 assembly and release. Of particular interest are the interplay between viral and host factors in the targeting of assembly to the plasma membrane, the role of lipid rafts in membrane association and virus assembly, and the mechanism by which the viral envelope glycoproteins are incorporated into virions. Recent studies have been aimed at defining the cellular pathways and host factors involved in the budding of retrovirus particles from the plasma membrane and identifying inhibitors of virus budding and entry. Studies are also underway to define the target and mechanism of action of a novel HIV-1 maturation inhibitor. Further details and a list of relevant publications can be found at http://home.ncifcrf.gov/hivdrp/Freed.html. This position is subject to a background investigation. |
