A fully funded post-doctoral position is available immediately in the Frank Laboratory in the Clinical Center and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, NIH with background in Stem Cell Biology or Biomedical Engineering in research that combines therapeutic ultrasound and cellular therapy for treatment of diseases. The labs major goal is to investigate the interaction of Ultrasound with the tissue microenvironment resulting in enhanced tropism of cells to targeted pathology as part of translational research leading to clinical trials. We evaluate the proteomic and transcriptomic effects of ultrasound effects and combine with cellular therapy in regenerative medicine. We are looking for an individual with experience in stem cell biology, biomedical engineering or tissue engineering to explore in a range of in vitro and in vivo experimental models investigating the effects of ultrasound on various stem cells and tissues serving as proof of concept of incorporate US approaches with innovative cell therapy strategies. One major research interest is to translate cellular therapy with ultrasound enhancement forward to clinical trials. The lab is fully equipped cellular and molecular biology facility, normoxic and hypoxic tissue cultures capabilities, along with confocal microscopy and scanner microscopy capabilities. The lab is also equipped with a MRI compatible and Ultrasound based Ultrasound Systems, 3T MRI scanner, 7T MR microimager, MicroPET/MicroCT as well as access to 9.4T MRI and bioluminescent imager in the NIH mouse imaging facility
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. with laboratory experience and at least one prior scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Candidates should be interested in mechanisms in tissue microenvironment and the changes can induce tropism of various cell therapies in treatment of various pathologies in the brain, kidney, muscle and in cancer. Must be willing to work and develop various animal models and in BS level II research environment. Salary for positions is commensurate with experience.
