Meiosis and DNA RepairPosted by: Postdoc positions by NIH
Posted date: 2017-Sep-15
Genetics or biochemistry experience is a plus, but not required. The Yanowitz lab is a place where you can develop your own research agenda in the context of our ongoing program in meiosis and DNA damage repair.
Immediate projects opportunities include implementing a novel screen for meiotic recombination factors; characterizing new recombination genes at the cytological, genetic, and biochemical level; functional analysis of the role of the proteasome in meiotic crossover formation; and detailed genetic and biochemical characterization of recently identified DNA repair genes.
The Yanowitz laboratory (www.yanoworm.org) provides a creative and supportive environment to probe various aspects of germ cell biology at the nexus of genetics, developmental biology, and cell biology. The Magee-Womens Research Institute is the largest private research foundation devoted to women's health yet is an integral part of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
