We are searching for a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow interested in translational research related to the topic of the "hematopoietic stem cell niche". The focus of this research is on the molecular mechanisms that underlie communication of the hematopoietic stem cells with cell components of the microenvironment, and how this interplay regulates stem cell maintenance, differentiation and movement, including development and dissemination of pro-tumorigenic myeloid cells. This research will be carried out in an exciting environment of creative and dedicated scientists.
The candidate should have evidence of excellent training and productivity, should demonstrate genuine interest in contributing to advances in cancer research and should be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. A molecular biology/vascular biology background is desirable. The candidate should possess experience in: molecular biology and biochemistry, including construction of lentiviral expression systems, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing systems, transient and stable gene expression/silencing, PAGE and immunoblotting, quantitative PCR, luciferase-based promoter analysis, chIP assays and analysis of signaling pathways; cell biology, including cell separation, cell-based functional studies, FACS analysis, immunostaining, confocal microscopy; mouse models of cancer, including maintenance of mouse colonies, derivation of mouse strains of interest, handling of mice for cancer-related in vivo experiments, mouse injections, blood drawing, tissue procurement, genotyping and statistical analyses for design and evaluation of pre-clinical cancer models.
The position is located in the Molecular and Cell Biology Section (Dr. G. Tosato) of the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology, CCR/NCI/NIH.
