Post-Doctoral Positions to Study Systemic Immune and Inflammatory Response

Position Description:
University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine and Center for Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research (STAR) is currently in search of three (3) Post-Doctoral candidates. The selected candidate(s) will be responsible for developing molecular ELISA immunological assays, performing the studies of immune and inflammatory response after tissue injury; and performing the studies using rodent and swine animal models in a laboratory setting.

One project is to develop mouse monoclonal antibodies and molecular ELISA immunological assays using the Simoa HD-1 Analyzer. Another project is to study the systemic inflammation after tissue injury. The third project will use mouse and rat brain ischemia and stroke models to investigate pathophysiological mechanisms of neuronal cell death and the development of neuroprotective treatments.

Qualifications:
The programs are highly interdisciplinary, utilizing animal surgery, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and quantitative histological analysis. Candidates with animal surgical skills and experience are preferred.
