Transplant Biology and Immunotherapy of Hematologic Malignancies

Newly funded postdoctoral positions are available in Leo Luznik's lab for highly motivated individuals interested in transplant biology and immunotherapy of hematologic malignancies. One position is in the area of transplant immunobiology focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms of tolerance induction and GVHD prevention with emphasis on regulatory T cells and T cell exhaustion. A second postdoctoral fellow position is available to explore mechanism of T cell dysfunction and immune evasion in leukemia with emphasis on developing novel immunotherapeutic strategies after chemotherapy and/or bone marrow transplantation. Both positions require experience in techniques of cellular immunology, multicolor flow cytometry, transcriptomics, and advanced data analysis. Central to this laboratory's mission is an in-depth exploration of the basic mechanisms of immunology with a focus on direct clinical application. The long-term goal for the post-doctoral fellow is to generate several high-impact manuscripts and competitively apply for extramural funding towards the goal of an independent research career. Our work is published in leading journals and we are part of a large and vibrant transplant immunology and cancer research community at Johns Hopkins.
Recent MD and/or Ph.D. (required) with strong interests in both mechanistic and translational aspects of work. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment. Effective communication skills, self-motivation, and record of publication. Successful candidates will be offered competitive salary commensurate with experience and institutional guidelines.
