A 2 years fully funded postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the Zalzman Laboratory, in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Center for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a research-intensive department, which is routinely ranked at the top 15% in the United States.
The Zalzman laboratory studies novel mechanisms governing cellular lifespan with the overreaching goal of enhancing the therapeutic potential and lifespan of adult stem cells for regenerative medicine. The project goal of this fellowship position is to establish novel protocols using human adult stem cells in vitro and in vivo in a mouse animal model for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The position will also involve close collaboration with other labs in the department, as well as laboratories in the National Institute on Aging/ National Institutes of Health.Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience or an equivalent academic field related to biomedical sciences appropriate to the work of the position. Small rodent neurosurgical experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must have interest in neuroscience, stem cell biology, molecular biology or related field with a strong publication record in these areas. A thorough knowledge of the English language with good writing and oral communication skills are required as well as the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.To Apply:
