A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the molecular basis of hibernating 100S ribosome and antibiotic resistance in human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. The Yap lab is located at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology-Immunology in the center of downtown Chicago. Our long-term goal is to understand how ribosomes in S. aureus respond to antibiotic and environmental stress, and how it could go on to alter how infection manifests. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biophysics (or a closely related field) and should have less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience. The ideal candidates will possess significant experimental training in biochemistry and genetics, as evidenced by at least one first authorship publication in peer-reviewed journals. Previous experience in RNA biology, and/or protein folding, and/or structural biology is highly desired.
The stipend level will be commensurate with years of experience according to the NIH.To Apply:
