Doctoral Grant by the University Research Fund (BOF) in the area of chondrodysplasia drug discovery using iPSC-derived models
The Antwerp Centre of Medical Genetics (CMG) is a large and dynamic clinical, diagnostic and research department that is embedded within the University of Antwerp and the Antwerp University Hospital. The CMG research groups are internationally highly renowned for their contributions to the cmolecular and pathophysiological elucidation of a wide range of hereditary diseases, including heart diseases, hearing loss, cancer, bone diseases and mental retardation. Within this setting, Prof. Aline Verstraeten is heading the ‘cardiovascular and connective tissue diseases-functional genomics’ research team. The group’s aim is to further elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which aneurysmal disease and chondrodysplasia are caused as well as to find novel therapies using iPSC-derived cell and mouse models.
