Our laboratory combines computational and experimental methods to investigate human-associated microbes. By analyzing shotgun metagenomics and microbial genomics data, we use translational approaches to explore the relevance of microbes in human health and diseases, particularly of skin diseases. Examples of our work include Tirosh, Nature Medicine 2018; Byrd, Science Translational Medicine 2017; Oh, Byrd Cell 2016; and Oh, Nature 2014.
A postdoctoral position in human microbiome research is available in Dr. Heidi Kong’s group in the Dermatology Branch, NIAMS, NIH. The group collaborates extensively with genomicists, immunologists, and clinical teams to perform cutting-edge microbiome research.Qualifications:
